Ada was designed in response to research highlighting the lack of consideration given to female ergonomic dimensions in conventional seating design. Many existing chairs are based on standardised measurements that do not adequately accommodate a diverse range of body types, often leading to discomfort and poor posture. To address this issue, the chair incorporates slanted back bars that provide targeted lower back support, a need repeatedly identified throughout the research process. While the design was informed by women’s ergonomic requirements, it is not limited to a single gender. Instead, it aims to create a more inclusive seating solution that reduces discomfort and supports individuals whose physical dimensions fall outside traditional averages, promoting greater comfort and wellbeing for a wider range of users.
