The design came from the appreciation of simplicity, Japanese design, and mid-century tables. Using dowel for the drawer runners felt like a way to reference classical wooden runners, making them a highlight by exposing them within the frame structure, rather than hidden inside.

The Hurdle Coffee Table is a contemporary yet timeless piece. It features strong intersecting linear forms, marrying the simplicity and linearity of Japanese design with traditional English countryside elements, such as hurdle fences and lath walls. It is a durable statement piece for living with and really using. The local ash veneers that weave through dowel create depth, contrast and layers. Made from local Devon ash and contrasting wooden dowel.
